Cette année
l'Association 'Les Amis du Réseau Comète' souhaite vous faire part du caractère
tout à fait exceptionnel de ses Journées Commémoratives qui ont lieu les 13 -
14 - 15 septembre. Elles se dérouleront dans le cadre de deux événements
mémoriels :
- le 75ème anniversaire du dernière passage et le 20ème anniversaire de la création de notre association.
Grâce au précieux
concours des Municipalités, deux inaugurations se dérouleront le vendredi :
- une plaque
souvenir à la gare de Bayonne en hommage aux bayonnais du réseau, et une
sculpture "In Memoriam" sur la place Lamothe, Anglet, pour un
hommage à l'ensemble des membres du réseau Comète.
Le samedi et le
dimanche deux journées de marche sur le passage de la Bidassoa, de Saint Jean
de Luz à Oiartzun, avec le dimanche, un grand repas de l'amitié dans une
cidrerie.

Dear friends,
The Comet weekend in the Pays Basque 2019, organised by the "Friends of the Comet Line" Association for 13th-15th September, promises to be especially memorable this year for several reasons. The 3 day commemorative weekend will be marked by a number of ceremonies and themes as follows:
Saturday and Sunday will see us walking over the original route taken by the Comet guides and the evaders over the Pyrenees, starting at Ciboure on the Saturday, including wading through the Bidassoa, after which we'll all enjoy the traditional sardinade served by our Spanish friends from the Urdaburu association. After an early start on Sunday morning, we'll then head for Sarobe farm, the 'safe' house in Spain that was a welcome haven for so many airmen, before we finish up with a communal meal (and singing!) in a cider house near Biriatou.
We're looking forward to seeing you all again - to re-kindle once again the spirit of Comète among friends - both old and new. Please keep these dates (13-15 September) free in your diaries. - the Town Hall, Anglet has kindly commissioned a memorial sculpture in honour of the men and women of the Comet Line. It will be situated at the Place Lamothe, Anglet, and it will also be inaugurated on the Friday;
- this year sees the 75th anniversary of the last passage by evading Allied airmen;
- finally, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of "Les amis du réseau Comète".
