63. Il était une fois dans le sud ouest - Once upon a time in the South West

Un jour de fête nationale marqué comme chaque année par notre tradition angloye: récompenser une personnalité qui fait honneur à notre ville.

En ce dimanche, Claude OLIVE, maire d’Anglet, a ainsi remis la médaille d’Or de la Ville à Dominique Aguerre, président des Amis du Réseau Comète.

Membre de l’association depuis 2011, président depuis 2021, Dominique Aguerre est issue d’une famille de passeurs. Père et oncle étaient aux côtés des centaines de résistants qui, de Bruxelles à Gibraltar en passant par Anglet et Saint-Sébastien, constituaient de 1941 à 1944 la ligne d’évasion pour sauver les aviateurs alliés.

Comme chaque année, les exploits du réseau Comète seront célébrés le 6 septembre prochain place Lamothe. Et toute l’année l’association des amis du réseau Comète fait vivre notre histoire angloye dans cette grande Histoire de France.

It is a tradition here in Anglet that, on the occasion of our national holiday, an award is presented to someone who has brought honour to our town.  

So it was that on Sunday 14th July, Mr Claude OLIVE, Mayor of Anglet, presented the City's Gold Medal to Dominique Aguerre, President of the Friends of the Comète Network.

A member of the association since 2011, President since 2021, Dominique Aguerre comes from a family of smugglers. His father and uncle were alongside the hundreds of resistance fighters who, from Brussels to Gibraltar via Anglet and San Sebastian, formed the escape line from 1941 to 1944 to save Allied airmen.

As every year, the exploits of the Comète network will be celebrated on Friday 6th September at Place Lamothe. And all year long, the association of Friends of the Comète network brings our Angloye history to life in this great History of France.
